Situé à 40 km NE d'Aurillac, et 4 km WNW du Puy Mary, le Roc d'Hozières domine le cirque du Falgoux. Le rocher est de la phonolite (variété dure de basalte). Du fait de l'orientation au sud-est à nord-est et de l'altitude (1500 m), l'escalade n'est possible qu'en été et début d'automne. En revanche, les équipements récents proposent 80 voies allant de 40 à 280 m, 4b-7b.
Located 40 km NE of Aurillac, and 4 km WNW of the Puy Mary, Roc d'Hozières towers above the valley named Cirque du Falgoux. Rock is phonolite (a hard grey variety of basalt). Due to orientation ranging from south-east to north-east and to altitude (1500 m), climbing is only possible in summer and beginning of autumn. However, recent equipment provides 80 routes from 40 m up to 280 m, 4b-7b.
Du Pas de Peyrol (Puy Mary) descendre vers Le Falgoux sur 4 km environ par la D680, stationner près d'un pont d'où l'on voit bien le versant NE du Roc d'Hozières ; prendre un chemin forestier sur 250 m, puis le quitter pour prendre sur la G un sentier raide (marques rouges) qui conduit au pied des voies en face SE.
From the Pas de Peyrol (Puy Mary) drive down on road D680 in the direction of Le Falgoux for approx. 4 km; park near a bridge below the NE face of Roc d'Hozières; walk a forest trail for 250 m, then leave it and take on the left a steep footpath (red marked) which leaves at the bottom of the south-east face.
