Située à 20 km WSW d'Annecy, 12 km NW de Rumilly et 18 km S de Bellegarde, sur le rive savoyarde du Rhône, la falaise de Val-de-Fier fait géographiquement partie du Jura. On y trouve 17 voies de 30 m, 4c-7b, dans le secteur du Petit Val-de-Fier (appelé aussi « Voie romaine ») et 14 grandes voies de 120 à 250 m, 6a-7c dans la grande paroi. Le rocher est un calcaire compact raide avec toutes sortes de prises. Orientation sud et altitude 300-700 m, donc grimpable en toutes saisons.
Located 20 km WSW of Annecy, 12 km NW of Rumilly and 18 km S of Bellegarde, on the left bank of the Rhône (in the ancient province of Savoy) the Val-de-Fier wall is geographically a part of the Jura mountains. It offers 17 routes of height 30 m, 4c-7b, in the Petit Val-de-Foer sector (also called ``Voie romaine'' and 14 great routes of height 120 to 250 m, 6a-7c in yhe major wall. Rock is a steep limestone with a large variety of holds. Oriented South at an elevation 300-700 m, it is therefore climbable year round.
D'annecy, aller à Rumilly puis prendre D14 dir. Seyssel. Parquer 2 km W de St-André-Val-de-Fier dans une ancienne carrière, avant un tunnel. Un sentier très raide démarre à 100 m à l'est du parking.
From Annecy, go to Rumilly and take D14 dir. Seyssel. Park 2 km W of St-André-Val-de-Fier in an ancient quarry, before a tunnel. A very steep footpath starts 100 M East of the parking.
